Why PH is the number you should be watching! I know you said not to be concerned but you also said that people hit 13 and freak the hell out. Should I change something? Thanks for the help! Reply Brian Patel on March 1, 2022 at 5:37 am Hi Chris I have a 100 gallon mixed reef tank (2.5 years old) and I have always dosed fully saturated Kalk 24/7 using a continuous dosing pump dialled in to my evaporation rate of 4.3 litres a day (dosing 3ml a minute over 24 hours) and my PH fluctuated between 8.05 at night and 8.27 during the day then I watched your brilliant video with Reefdudes and immediately changed my regime, first I recalibrated my PH probe then started dosing 6ml per minute (double) during a 12 hour night time period and nothing during the day… For the first 2 weeks I was amazed, my PH at night was a steady 8.23 and during the day was 8.27, a small 0.04 fluctuation – my jaw hit the floor! However in my third week my average PH has dropped to 8.18 at night and 8.21 during the day and I’m not sure why, is there something I’m missing? What can I do to raise my PH higher? My Alk had hit a high of 12.75 DKH and has settled out at 12.08 DKH and my calcium is steady at 480ppm and I run my skimmer hose outside. Any advice on how I can achieve the results I was getting in the first 2 weeks would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thank you.
