Anthogorgia caerulea (Blueberry Gorgonian)
Delicate branching gorgonian with thin branches forming fan-like or bushy colonies. Living specimens show distinctive blue to bluish-purple coloration with small polyps along the branches.
Range: Red Sea and other Indo-Pacific localities. Habitat: Reef slopes and rocky areas with moderate to strong current. Biology: Azooxanthellate (non-photosynthetic); feeds on plankton and particulate matter.
Aquarium notes: Challenging species. Requires strong water flow and regular target feeding with fine zooplankton or NPS foods. Best for experienced aquarists. Often sold in the trade as Blueberry Gorgonian.
