Anthopleura fuscoviridis

As you can see, the colors of the Rainbow Bottom anemone are spectacular! When we were contacted by our supplier we were eager to learn more about them. After reaching out to many experts in the industry, we were unable to identify the exact species of this anemone from the photos. The only information we did receive was that they came from subtropical waters of the East China Sea. Our supplier was holding the anemones for over a month in 78-80 degree aquarium temperature, so we were confident in their ability to live in a reef aquarium environment. It wasn’t until after we received our fist shipment and Reefbuilders posted the article on them that we started receiving additional feedback.

The species is in fact Anthopleura fuscoviridis. There is not a lot of information online about this species as it relates to reef aquariums. We believe they will likely not host clown fish based on where they were collected. We will post additional information as received.

Happy Reefing!
